Starting a Website

Now that you have decided that you want a website, it is a great idea to collect the following items to help you get ready to start STEP 1.

  • Business plan for your company
  • Any flyers or brochures
  • Any letter head or logos
  • Photos or company graphics
  • Do you have a color scheme?
  • Number of current customers
  • Any information you have about current web hosting or domain names.

There is work that must be done before you will actually see any web pages. Our goal is to work together to design a website that will help you achieve your business goals.

A Safer Company will work with you to determine how much you do and how much we do for you.

Step 1:

Domain Name - Every website has a unique name to identify it. This is the name that your customers will type into their browser to see your website. For example: asafercompany.com is the domain name for this company. General guidelines are that .COM be used primarily for commercial businesses, .NET for network related organizations and .ORG for nonprofit groups.

  • We can help you find and register a domain name.
  • We can transfer an existing domain name.

Step 2:

Web Hosting - Web Hosting is where a website actually resides. Most web hosting services also provides email addresses. For example: tsmith@yourcompany.com.

    • We can provide Web Hosting for you.
    • We can work with your current Web Hosting
    • We recommend to use email with your domain name. This means that you are marketing your business every time you send an email. For example: tsmith@asafercompany.com would automatically let people know that you work for A Safer Company.

Step 3:

Analyzing Your Web Needs - Once you have gathered your company information, it is time to start analyzing your website needs and preferences. The analysis process is where we work together and make an outline of what you want you want on your website we will have a plan for your website. This plan will be used to design and build your website It will also be used to allow us to provide you with accurate estimate of our service.

  1. Please answer these questions:
    • Summary of your business
    • How do you get your customers?
    • How do you communicate with them?
    • What is the purpose of your website?
      • Do you want it to be for informational purposes only
      • Do you want to collect information from people who go to your website?
      • Do you want to sell your products on your website?
      • If so , does your product change often?
    • Who are your customers? Do you have several types of customers?
    • Who is your target audience for your website
    • What information do you want to provide to your customers through your website?
    • When do you want your website ready?
    • Who will maintain your Webster?
    • Find 5 - 10 websites that you like, print them and make the things that you like as well as dislike.
    • Do you want A Safer Company to design your website?
    • Do you want to be able to update curtain pages of our website?

Step 4:

The Plan comes from the information gathered during the analysis phase. The plan will document the following:

  • The number of pages for your website
  • The purpose and function of each page
  • The target audience for each page
  • The navigation for the website
  • The number of templates
  • The information that you will need to supply for each page
  • The cost of the website
  • An estimate of the amount of time it will take to develop your website

Once we have your approval and deposit your website will be started.

Step 5:

Designing Your web Site - Once we have your approval of the plan for your website, we are ready to start the design. This is when we discuss how your website will look based on your plan. We will create an image for you to see how your website will look. You will be asked to change or approve the design of your website

  • Color preferences
  • Logo
  • Photos
  • Navigation

Lorem Ipsum verbiage will be used in your template. This is Latin dummy text which was originally used in the 1500's.

Upon your approval a template will be developed and each page will be created using this template. The design of this template will be used throughout the site to brand your website presence.

You will be notified when your first page of your website is ready for your review, test and approval. Once you approve it, the remainder pages will be developed.

Testing the Web Site

The website will be tested thoroughly before it is sent to you. Your website will be tested for :

  • spelling
  • broken links
  • validated through W3C - World Wide Web Consortium
  • popular browsers

You will be asked to test your website. Any errors that you find will be fixed for one month from the date that you were notified about the fix.

You will receive an invoice one week after the website is approved.
