How do you get your web site. and your business found by potential customers or clients?

Search engines are one of the primary ways that Internet users find web sites. Search engines are an effective and inexpensive advertising method for your web site. Your web site has the same chance to be found through a search engine as a larger company. A web site with a good search engine ranking may see a dramatic increase in traffic.

  • Repeat key words in the body.

Meta Tags

Meta tags are used for search engines to catalog and rank your web page. Search Engines rate your web site by relevancy to the user's query. The more words that you have that match what the user is looking for, the more of a chance that you will be visited by them.

Meta tags are located in the header section of your web site's html source. This is an example of meta tags to help increase your web site's search engine raking.

Meta Tags - Key Words

The keywords should be the words or phrases your customers might use to find your web site. Keywords can be repeated up to six times but they must not be right next to each other. Search Engines rate your web site by based on the relevancy of the user's query. The more words that you have that match what the user is looking for, the more of a chance that you will be visited by them. The maximum limit of characters in your meta keywords tag is 250 characters including spaces.

Make sure you use these key words in the title and in the text. Put the key words in bold, italics, bullets or <h#> tags.

Meta Tag Description

<META name="description" content="this will be a brief description of your company and why someone should go to your web site. This is the description that may search engines display.">

The Meta Tag Description is simply verbiage that search engines also take into consideration when researching your site to include into their lists. This verbiage should make the end-user want to visit your site. You are limited to around 25 words or 250 characters. You can even repeat the keywords in your description a couple of times.

Title

Too many graphics on a web page can cause problems when a search engines tries to catalog the page. Many of the search engines go to body of your web page and catalog the text of your web site. Some search engines read the text to verify keywords found in your Meta tags and Title tags.Some of the major engines just read the first megabyte of text on your page and catalog it according to this information.

A completely graphical web page has no text for a search engine to catalog your web page's content.

Include at least 100 words of text on your web page containing the keywords that are in your meta tags. You can even repeat the keywords in the body text up to 6 times. Search engines suggest that you do not repeat your keywords one right after another, but break them up between other keywords. May sure your key words are visible in the body of your web page.
