FTP Access for Internet Explorer

FTP allow you to upload files to your web hosting server so these files can be shared. It is usually a quicker way to ftp files than try to email them to your webmaster.

FTP can be accessed through Internet Explorer.

  1. Make sure you know the following:
    • Your domain name. For example: asafercompany.com
    • Your username
    • Your password.
  2. Internet Explorer 7 has more steps than Internet Explorer (IE6.) If you are using IE 6 skip to the next step.
    • Open Internet Explorer 7 and enter ftp://enf.org in the address. The following error message will appear.   
    • Go to the Page button on the right side menu and click on Open FTP Site in Windows Explorer.  
    • You will see a new window open.  

  3. Go to Internet Explorer and enter ftp://yourdomainname/ in the Address.
  4. You will get the following error message:
  5. Click OK.
  6. Go to File>Login As...
  7. You will see the Log On As Screen.
  8. Enter your User Name and password.
  9. You will see a list of folders and files.
  10. Click on public_ftp and store your files in this folder. It is a good idea to give your files meaningful names to help identify them for later use.
